This client wanted a guest house/ADU that would feel like it was a cabin in the woods, though in reality it was in Suburban Los Angeles. Our solution was to place the ADU on top of the existing garage at tree level. The ADU evokes a Vermont mountain cabin, clad in cedar with exposed larger timber beams. It’s walls, floors, and ceiling are made of finished plywood. All the details are custom wood to continue that Vermont Cabin feel. The front facade angles toward the best view, while opening up room for a small balcony. The floors, walls, and ceiling, are all finished plywood.
