Mobile Woodshop Classroom
A pro-bono project for the non-profit arts organization, Side Street Projects. Side Street provides art education to low-income communities using mobile woodworking shops. Most of these wood working shops were inside converted school busses. Side Street needed mobile woodshed classrooms they could leave at a school for an entire semester. Shipping Containers was a perfect fit to this need. We designed two that would face each other and connect together to create one larger space. At night they fold back up into the secure steel box of each shipping container. Automated winch lowers the side wall where it becomes a deck. The aluminum canopy is a simple bolted on assembly. LED lighting and electrical power system that will eventually include and inverter connected to roof top solar panels.
